The Charterhouse is an almshouse and a heritage site. Its historic buildings, dating back to medieval and Tudor times, are home to a vibrant contemporary community.

Paul Velluet, our President, has kindly offered to give us a briefing on the connection between our own Charterhouse at Shene and the London Charterhouse. Paul will speak to us in  Charterhouse Square immediately before our visit, which will mean arriving around 10.30 am in the Square.

Tea/coffee and biscuits  will be served at the Charterhouse from 10.45 am and Peter Aires, the Master and Chief Executive, will provide an introductory talk about The Charterhouse before we begin our tour at 11.30.

The visit, for RLHS members and their guests only, is limited to 20 people and the cost is £16.50. To book  a place, please contact the Society’s Secretary, LIz Velluet, at rich.hist@yahoo.co.uk

The nearest stations are Barbican and Farringdon.  Buses 4, 56 and 153 stop in front of Barbican Station on Aldersgate Street.
