New Editor of Richmond History<\/em> appointed<\/span><\/h1>\n

We have appointed\u00a0Julian Holden<\/strong> as editor of our journal, Richmond History.<\/em> Julian will produce a new issue – Richmond History 45<\/em> – in 2026.<\/p>\n

Julian Holden, Editor of Richmond History<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Julian Holden<\/strong> lives in St. Margarets and has been a resident of Richmond borough for over 40 years. He has worked most of that time as a marketer and marketing coach for local businesses, helping them through the tricky waters of internet marketing. He is a regular lecturer at RHACC in Richmond and at City Lit in Covent Garden. He is also a volunteer room and tour guide for the National Trust at Ham House.<\/p>\n

A long-term fan of history and a lover of art and architecture he holds an honours degree in Humanities and an MA in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute, University of London, and is also a qualified teacher.<\/p>\n

As our new journal editor, he\u2019d be delighted to hear from anyone with an idea for an article relating to our area of interest \u2013 Richmond, Kew, Petersham and Ham.<\/p>\n

Richmond History<\/em> is now a four-times <\/span>award-winner<\/span><\/h1>\n

Our journal, <\/a>Richmond History,<\/a><\/em> has now received an award as London’s best local history journal for four<\/strong> years in a row. <\/span><\/p>\n

At the London & Middlesex Archaeological Society<\/span><\/a> (LAMAS)’s annual Local History Conference, held at the London Museum Docklands in November 2024, <\/span>our Society received a certificate and a \u00a3100 prize for Richmond History<\/em> 44 (our 2024 issue) which won in the Journal category at LAMAS’s Local History Publications Awards.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

LAMAS’s publications committee described Richmond History <\/em>42 (our 2021\/22 issue), with its cover story on international tennis star Betty Nuthall, as “providing a winning mix of topics about the local catchment area, accompanied with good illustrations and photos”. Our journal, it said, was “entertaining, well referenced and easy to read”.<\/p>\n

Copies of all four issues, which include some pages\u00a0 in colour – are available from our online bookshop.<\/a> They can also be bought at Kew Bookshop, t<\/a>he Museum of Richmond, The National Archives’ shop and The Open Book<\/a> in Richmond.<\/p>\n

Where they are still in print, you can buy back copies from our online bookshop<\/a><\/strong>.<\/a><\/strong> They include no. 25 (2004) and no. 31 (2010)\u00a0 which were reprinted in 2017 with new covers.<\/p>\n

A complete set of Richmond History<\/em> journals is also held in the Richmond Local Studies Library and Archive<\/a> at the Old Town Hall, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond TW9 1TP and in the librayr at The National Archives in Kew.<\/p>\n
