Our summer coach outing this year is to Burgley House, near Stamford in Lincolnshire, on Tuesday 3 July. Burghley, home of the Cecil family for over 400 years, is one of England’s greatest Elizabethan houses. Our visit includes a guided tour in the afternoon (approximately one hour) of 18 rooms in the house, with superb collections of Italian art, porcelain and 18th-century furniture. The housee is set in a 300-acre deer park landscaped by Capability Brown and there are also gardens we can visit. Our coach departs from outside Richmond Theatre, Little Green, promptly at 9:00 am and will leave from Burghley at 5:00 pm.

To ensure your place, please send a cheque (payable to the Richmond Local History Society) and a stamped addressed envelope, to Rose Constantine, 6 Ormond Road, Richmond TW10 6TH. Rose will also need your name, phone number, email address (if available) and the number of tickets you require.

The cost is £35 for the coach trip (including the driver’s tip), access to the gardens and  landscaped parkland and a guided tour of the house at approximatey 3pm. You also have the option, for an additional £10.50, of booking for the group set lunch (homemade seasonal soup and  a selection of sandwiches,  including meat, fish and vegetarian options, followed by tea or coffee with miniature brownie pieces).
